Rad Unicorn and the Ecstatic Virgins are a mostly-acoustic ensemble performing gothic Americana in New York City and beyond.
We make dirty songs for haunted hearts, reaching down to the dark roots of country and blues using old familiar and strange instruments: fiddle, autoharp, guitar, dulcimer, piano, bass, and the oldest and strangest of instruments, our voices. We want to bring you with us as we chase despair down into transcendence.
We’re about to release our first album, Under Starless Mountain. These songs tell the tale of a mountain mining town convulsed by strange events: murder, flame, roads filled with blood, haunted forests. The dead rise. When all seems lost, the river rises too, and washes away the blood.
